MasterChef – amateurs
compete to win
MasterChef is a new show based on a cooking competition. It is hosted and co-produced by Gordon Ramsay. Thousands of amateur cooks take part in the cooking competition.
They compete to win $250,000 and their very own cookbook. Every person will cook a single dish. The judges will taste each dish and decide which 30 people will stay in the competition.
A series of challenges are used in elimination. In the Mystery Box challenge each contestant is assigned to cook a dish from a box of ingredients.
The judges taste several dishes and choose a winner. In the Invention Test challenge they cook a dish using a given theme. The winner of the Mystery Box challenge chooses a main ingredient.
The top three dishes are tasted and a winner is chosen. In the Celebrity Chef challenge the winner of the Invention Test competes against a celebrity chef.
In the Off-Site Challenge the contestants are split into two teams. They are assigned to run a restaurant or cater for an event. The winning team receives a reward.
The two worst contestants on the losing team compete against each other. One contestant is eliminated. The remaining contestants on the losing team compete as individuals.
