Holmes on Homes Show
Helps Fund Renovations

Holmes on Homes is a Canadian-produced show. It is broadcast in Canada, United States, United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa. It is the highest-rated and popular show in Canada.

It won the Gemini Viewers' Choice Award. The show is hosted by the general contractor Mike Holmes. He visits homeowners in Canada and the United States who need help because of poorly performed renovations.

Homeowners discuss their experiences with the previous contractor. They talk about why the first contractor walked off the job. Mike Holmes points out where the work was completed below quality standards.

He explains what needs to be fixed during renovation. The names of first-hired contractors are not said on the show. Mike Holmes and his crew often see that a small project turns into a larger one.

This is because of unexpected problems found. They are later forced to fix them. At first, the show had 30-minute episodes with very few one-hour specials.

It later moved to a one-hour long episode during the third season. One-Hour Specials were the Season 1 Finale, Whole House Disaster, and Holmes for the Holidays.

Two-Hour Specials were House to Home, Out of the Ashes, Holmes Inspection, Pasadena 911, and Lien on Me. At the end of the show, Mike Holmes shows homeowners their finished space with a few extra features.

Mike Holmes and his crew get the job done right the first time. Mike Holmes also started the Holmes Foundation. It is a charity organization to raise awareness of skilled trades.
